Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

The EPA provides public water systems basic information on human health effects, analytical screening tools, and the effectiveness of various treatment processes to remove or inactivate commonly occurring toxins in water bodies that are sources of drinking water.

They develop and review regulations for certain drinking water contaminants. EPA rulemaking involves the public, consultations with small businesses, tribal governments, and official committees established under the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA). For more information, visit the EPA’s website.
